Are you planning on buying and installing an evaporative cooler? There are a good number of things you should consider before you proceed. They function using the traditional cooling method of evaporation. Something like when you dip your hands in water and get them wet, and you then let air pass through to dry them. That cool feeling is the outcome you get with evaporative coolers. An evaporative cooler runs by having dry air pass through already installed wet pads. These wet pads are fixed in the portable evaporative cooler, and when the air hits the wet pads, it is transformed into cooler air which then circulates within the house. It is especially effective during the dry season when humidity is low, and the air is hot.

Evaporative coolers are also a great alternative to air conditioners as they are known for their energy-saving efficiency. However, because the portable evaporative cooler is uniquely designed this way, its function ability is increasingly lowered during the rainy season when humidity levels are high.

When installing an evaporative cooler, it is best to consider the following:

The size of the machine: the size of the cooler matters a lot. It is crucial to ensure that the size of the machine fits what your home, office space, or warehouse would be needing. To know this, calculate, by multiplying the floor area of the space by the height divided by two. That will give the answer you need.

The design: before now, swamp coolers were mounted on the roof, but now, with the progress made in technology, more convenient coolers have been designed. You can decide to go for a more portable design that is less expensive and has a cooling capacity suitable for your space.

Labor: installing some kind of evaporative coolers can be labor intensive if you are not careful. Certain coolers would be up and running when you connect them to a hosepipe and an electrical outlet while others require some more solid structure.

Pad design: the pad design is a notable consideration when installing an evaporative cooler. Rigid sheet pads cost more than aspen pads, but they also last longer.

Maintenance cost: periodic maintenance is key to keeping your evaporative cooler in optimal shape. Smaller-sized cooling units don’t cost as much in maintenance compared to the bigger boys. Surprisingly, it is even more expensive to maintain roof-mounted units.

Ultimately, the location, brand of an evaporative cooler, installation complexities, and local tax usually affects prices of installation and maintenance leading to variations.
